EBEX21®: Landowner eligibility

If your intention is to allow some of your land to regenerate into native forest in perpetuity and gain some income from it by selling carbon credits then EBEX™ may work for you.

To qualify, your land must meet all of the following criteria:

     
  1. Is the land naturally regenerating into native species, and are there native seedlings in the pasture areas that could grow to 5 m in height?

  1. Is the patch of land at least 100 ha (247 acres) in area?
Yes No
  1. Was the land in pasture or did it have <30% tree cover (include only trees that exceed 5 m in height at maturity, e.g. beech) at 31 December 1989? Land that could be eligible includes pasture with occasional scrubby bushes, or extensive patches of gorse or broom with a few native plants underneath.

  1. Are there patches of native bush within a kilometre of the patch of land?
Yes No
  1. Is the patch of land below the subalpine level?
Yes No
  1. Is the patch of land fenced off from stock or can stock be excluded by fencing or other means?
Yes No
  1. Are you prepared to seek a covenant to protect the regenerating forest in perpetuity?
Yes No

If you answered ‘yes’ to all these questions, please contact us.
If you answered ‘no’ to any of these questions, the FAQ section will tell you why your land is not eligible.
